Welcome to the small blog about the efforts of the world of Cairn Terrier Rescue in Northern California.
My wife and I are the Rescue coordinators for the Cairn Terrier Club of Northern California. While we do the main part of the work, we have a fine support corps of volunteers that occasionally will go pick up, evaluate, transport, or foster a dog in their homes. Rescue is funded solely donations of members of the club and from the placement fees for Rescue. Rescue is not a money generating enterprise for the club, by design, in some years, the club has given us additional funds so we can continue our work. In other years, we have funded other clubs in need.
While we generally work in Northern California, we work closely with the Cairn Terrier Club of Southern California. We do get requests from neighboring states but our ability to serve those requests are somewhat limited. However, I know of one beautiful Rescue Cairn, Polly, who is living on a ranch in Idaho.
If you are looking to adopt or to surrender a dog, please go to the club web site, ctcnc.net. There is contact information and direct links to request forms available there. There is a good bit of information about Cairns, specifically, terriers, in general, and some good dog behavior information available.
This blog will probably be more of a place for the tales and tails of Rescue.
Blogs by their nature are generally egocentric. That is not what I am after but then I do write the material. I am hoping that club members get a feel for the world of Rescue without always blowing my horn. I don’t want the attention but I do want them to understand why I ask for help on occasion. For non club members, I want them to understand what Rescue is about and what that grand adventure can be if they step up and help out one of these guys by saying, “I want that dog, warts and all.”.
